Cash Hewitt

Remembering Cash

Cash Hewitt was born in Kelowna, BC in 2006. A chubby, happy baby, Cash was given the nickname 'Bubba Chubba'. The Bubba portion would stick with him throughout his life. Cash's mom extended this nickname to his closest friends and other young kids in his family, and still uses it to this day as a term of endearment.

Cash was a jokester right from kindergarten. With many friends and a ton of academic spirit, Cash was comfortable in many social circles. As the years went on, Cash continued to show how empathetic he was. He was an animal whisperer and would always stick up for the underdog. By 12 years old, Cash was donating his own money to the homeless, fundraising for charity, as well as volunteering in the soup kitchen. However, if you knew Cash, you never would have guessed he was so passionate about all these things. He became a typical teenager, with a large group of friends, and certainly got into his own share of silly with them. Cash loved his family fiercely, especially his sisters. He would have done anything for them, and they knew and know how much he cared for them.

Just before the terrible day that Cash passed away from an automobile accident, Cash had taken a new job with an Okanagan after-school program. He would be working with a youth group, hanging out with kids, and hoping to make a difference. This is the motivation for this webpage, and the hope that it will grow into a place for kids and youth to find some solace.

August 6, 2023 is the fateful day that took the life of a quirky, funny, loyal, empathetic, silly, great guy. He is missed more than ever, and this is our chance to prove it wasn’t for nothing. Cash’s Mom Cares is hopeful to be a safe place for people to be their authentic selves — to show where Cash can go, to hopefully help others find their passion, goals, and future, and to ensure the underdog knows there is ALWAYS a place for them in this world.
